Review
Plot
Clary, and her and her friend, Simon, are at a club having a good time. At some point a couple individuals catch Clary’s eye, and she can’t resist following them out of the club. She quickly realizes that she isn’t supposed watching what is unfolding in front of her, and isn’t even supposed to be able to see these beings in the first place.
Clary then finds herself thrown into a world that is hidden from the mundanes. There are vampires, werewolves, fae, angels, demons, and everything in between. In this world there are also shadowhunters, the warriors who are sworn to defeat the demons.
Clary’s world gets turned upside down when she realizes that her mother has been doing everything in her power to keep her hidden from this world. Clary can’t even ask her for the truth, because her mother has gone missing. And the only people who can help her are the shadowhunters.
Characters
In the book City of Bones you will meet shadow hunters, demons, vampires, fae, and other supernatural creatures. The most prevalent in the book are the shadow hunters, vampires and demons.
Clary is the FMC. She was hidden from the world of shadow hunters, demons, and other creatures by her mother When her mother goes missing, Clary is thrown into this existence of supernatural beings with little guidance.
Simon is one of Clarys best friends, and accompanies her as Clary explores this new world she finds herself submerged in.
Jace is the MMC and is a very strong shadow hunter. He is arrogant, sarcastic, and strong. You will find his humor, or the lack there of, enticing and something that makes you just want him even more.
Overall
City of bones is a great place to start for someone who doesn’t read much series or fantasy. City of Bones is easy to get into, the world building is simple. You don’t have to try to understand, you just do.
The writing style is really fun to read, it is simple, but the story keeps you engaged.
I will say there are some cheesy parts to the story, but overall it’s a good, to time commitment type of read.

Summary
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder — much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing — not even a smear of blood — to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know…
Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare’s ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

Where to buy?
Since I go through books so fast, I normally don’t like to buy books brand new. For the most part I have found amazon to be a great place to find used books. They often offer great deals, and if you have amazon prime, shipping is free!
Get City of Bones here from amazon.
Another place I like to go for books is a website called thriftbooks. Often I’ll price compare between this website and amazon. Thriftbooks used to be cheaper than amazon, but lately I’ve been surprised with amazon. So you never know!
The last place I go to for books is kindle unlimited. Believe it or not you don’t need a kindle to get the benefits! Kindle has an app you can just download onto your phone. This is one of my favorite features because if I forget my kindle, I can still pull up the book on my phone! And the app does a great job switching to the last page I was on in the book even if it was on a different device.
