Review

Characters

In Evermore you will find immortals, humans, psychics, empaths, and alchemists. Although the alchemists are in the background, or implied.

The main character is Ever. After a tragic car crash, ending in the loss of her family, Ever finds she has psychic abilities. She can hear peoples thoughts, see their auras and know their life story with a touch.

Damen is the MMC and is an immortal. He has lived for quite some time, and is a mysterious new student at Evers school.

Reilly is Evers younger sister who died in a car crash. She appears as a ghost throughout evermore. She often appears to Ever, which helps Ever  while trying to cope with psychic abilities and struggling with the loss of her family.  Reilly mourns the loss of her life, making her visits to Ever sweet, but difficult.

Drina is the main antagonist. She has previously been involved with Damen, and their history goes back a long time. She sees ever as a threat and goes to great lengths in trying to take her out of the picture.

Haven and Miles are two of Ever’s closest friends. Haven follows a more gothic crowd. She has a need to fit in and be accepted. Miles is openly gay and quite a happy character, and cares a great deal for Ever.

Magic

The magic in Evermore is the kind usually associated with immortals. Long life, enhanced speed, strength, telekinesis, telepathy, teleportation, empathy (feeling others emotions), ghost communication, and creating of illusions.

Plot

Ever finds herself as the only survivor of a tragic car accidents that her family was in. This accident triggers supernatural abilities in Ever, one of them being able to hear peoples thoughts. In order to drown out the noise, Ever is constantly hiding behind headphones and baggy clothes.

When a new student, Damen, comes along, he is somehow able to quiet her mind. This intrigues Ever and he quickly becomes a love interest.

Through their growing relationship a past lover of Damen’s comes into the picture, and Damen slowly reveals more of himself and his past lives.

Overall

I like how the plot slowly reveals more truths that you didn’t see coming. Evermore is an easy read, and is more romantic than it is action packed or world building. I also enjoy how the romance starts out as gradual and sweet.  The love between Ever and Damen is built on friendship, and it is so sweet how Damen loves Ever. He loves her through her difficulties, and is a constant support to her. Damen is not overwhelming and gives ever the space she needs.

I personally connected a lot with Ever as a teenager in the fact that she hid behind clothes and was constantly listening to music to drown out the ‘noise’. I feel like as a teen I had some insecurities, and wanted so badly to be loved for who I was, and not how I looked or how much money I had. Because of this, I also quickly fell in love with Damen since he loved her through it all. He was a clam and confident friend and lover for Ever, which gave me all the warm fuzzies as a teen.

This book is still great for adults, and as the series goes on, it defenitly gets more spicy!

Summary

After a horrible accident claimed the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever Bloom can see people’s auras, hear their thoughts, and know someone’s entire life story by touching them. Going out of her way to avoid human contact and suppress her abilities, she has been branded a freak at her new high school—but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste.

Damen is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy. He’s the only one who can silence the noise and random energy in her head—wielding a magic so intense, it’s as though he can peer straight into her soul. As Ever is drawn deeper into his enticing world of secrets and mystery, she’s left with more questions than answers. And she has no idea just who he really is—or what he is. The only thing she knows to be true is that she’s falling deeply and helplessly in love with him.

Where to buy?

Since I go through books so fast, I normally don’t like to buy books brand new. For the most part I have found amazon to be a great place to find used books. They often offer great deals, and if you have amazon prime, shipping is free!

Get Evermore here from amazon.

Another place I like to go for books is a website called thriftbooks. Often I’ll price compare between this website and amazon. Thriftbooks used to be cheaper than amazon, but lately I’ve been surprised with amazon. So you never know!

The last place I go to for books is kindle unlimited. Believe it or not you don’t need a kindle to get the benefits! Kindle has an app you can just download onto your phone. This is one of my favorite features because if I forget my kindle, I can still pull up the book on my phone! And the app does a great job switching to the last page I was on in the book even if it was on a different device.Â
