My thoughts
Characters
The first book was a lot of setting up and world building. But in Two Twisted Crowns you really get to know the characters. You learn more about their back story, their upbringing, and who they are. Each character is very different from each other, and they are very real. Each character has their strengths, but also they are very real in their weaknesses. I love how in Two Twisted Crowns the characters become so much more relatable and realistic. I think that’s why I love the second book so much more than the first!
As the development of each character grows throughout the book, so do their relationships with others. Sibling rivalry comes into full bloom. Along with strengths and weaknesses of each relationship. You understand more of why each person acts the way they do, and where their ties lie.
Spice
The romance in Two Twisted Crowns was also very good, and quite unique. It is obscured by magic, which makes it that much more fun and interesting. You root for a solution the entire book, and by the end you are surprised how it works out! There are a few plot twists in this book when it comes to the romance, and you will be surprised!
Magic
I enjoyed the Two Twisted Crown much more than One Dark Window. And I loved seeing limitations on the magic. How each character struggled to use the magic, and how they worked to maintain it. I also loved how many twisted there were in this book! It wasn’t nearly as predictable as the first book, and I LOVED IT!
Overall
Although this may be an unpopular opinion, I enjoyed the Two Twisted Crowns much more than the first book in the series!
Summary
Gripped by a tyrant king and in the thrall of dark magic, the kingdom is in peril. Elspeth and Ravyn have gathered most of the twelve Providence Cards, but the last—and most important—one remains to be found: the Twin Alders. If they’re going to find the card before Solstice and set free the kingdom, they will need to journey through the dangerous mist-cloaked forest. The only one who can lead them through is the monster that shares Elspeth’s head: the Nightmare.

The last place I go to for books is kindle unlimited. Believe it or not you don’t need a kindle to get the benefits! Kindle has an app you can just download onto your phone. This is one of my favorite features because if I forget my kindle, I can still pull up the book on my phone! And the app does a great job switching to the last page I was on in the book even if it was on a different device.
