My thoughts

Characters

In Ruthless Vows you will see wyvern, the underworld, and two different gods. Besides that it is all mortals and humans fighting in behalf of the gods.

I feel like in Ruthless vows, the MMC becomes more relatable than in the previous book.  He does become controlled by the devil, and does what he can do to survive.

The FMC almost switches roles with the MMC, which was a fun twist, and almost made the romance more realistic. It wasn’t just one of the main characters is filled with a bunch of faults, and being chased after by the other character with unfailing love.

Romance

How Iris and Kitt love each other is unlike any other love story I’ve read so far in my book adventures. I love how they express their feelings, how they write to each other, and how they open up a different world of thought and vulnerability. They have a way of putting words on a page that make them feel like magic in your heart, and have you feeling emotions in a way you didn’t think you could feel them before. As I was reading I felt awe, wonder, love, relief and empowerment.

Nothing gets me like a well written book!

Violence

Although this book is about a war between gods, who enlist humans to fight for them. I find that it’s not too violent or graphic. There are a few scenes that can be somewhat descriptive, but it was also so tender and I cried again! The pain of loss is hard, and you can’t help but feel it for yourself as you are reading.

Overall

Divine Rivals, and Ruthless Vows, I would 1000% recommend!

Ruthless Vows did not fail to impress. Although, Ruthless Vows is not as good as Divine Rivals, it is still a fantastic read! It has a similar pace to Divine Rivals. I wouldn’t say it’s a slow paced book, but it’s not fast. It was a nice easy read, filled with great one liners that pull at your heart strings. ♥️

Summary

Two weeks have passed since Iris Winnow returned home bruised and heartbroken from the front, but the war is far from over. Roman is missing, and the city of Oath continues to dwell in a state of disbelief and ignorance. When Iris and Attie are given another chance to report on Dacre’s movements, they both take the opportunity and head westward once more despite the danger, knowing it’s only a matter of time before the conflict reaches a city that’s unprepared and fracturing beneath the chancellor’s reign.

Since waking below in Dacre’s realm, Roman cannot remember his past. But given the reassurance that his memories will return in time, Roman begins to write articles for Dacre, uncertain of his place in the greater scheme of the war. When a strange letter arrives by wardrobe door, Roman is first suspicious, then intrigued. As he strikes up a correspondence with his mysterious pen pal, Roman will soon have to make a decision: to stand with Dacre or betray the god who healed him. And as the days grow darker, inevitably drawing Roman and Iris closer together…the two of them will risk their very hearts and futures to change the tides of the war.

For those of you listening to the audio book, the closed door scene can be found in chapter 44!

Where to buy?

Since I go through books so fast, I normally don’t like to buy books brand new. For the most part I have found amazon to be a great place to find used books. They often offer great deals, and if you have amazon prime, shipping is free!

Get Ruthless Vows here from amazon.

Another place I like to go for books is a website called thriftbooks. Often I’ll price compare between this website and amazon. Thriftbooks used to be cheaper than amazon, but lately I’ve been surprised with amazon. So you never know!

The last place I go to for books is kindle unlimited. Believe it or not you don’t need a kindle to get the benefits! Kindle has an app you can just download onto your phone. This is one of my favorite features because if I forget my kindle, I can still pull up the book on my phone! And the app does a great job switching to the last page I was on in the book even if it was on a different device.
